Este mes de mayo se celebrará el 25º Festival Internacional de Cine de Jeonju en Jeonju, la ciudad más coreana. El festival proyectará 232 películas independientes, cortometrajes y alternativas de 43 países.

25th Jeonju International Film Festival (2024)

El Festival Internacional de Cine de Jeonju (JIFF, coreano: 전주국제영화제; Hanja: 全州國際映畵祭) es un festival de cine asiático. Fue lanzado en 2000 como un festival de cine no competitivo con competencia parcial. Introduce películas independientes y experimentales para centrarse en el curso alternativo del arte cinematográfico contemporáneo.

CIUDAD DE JEONJU (Alcalde Woo Beom Ki) anunció que el Festival Internacional de Cine de Jeonju, una querida tradición anual en Jeonju, un importante destino turístico asiático celebrado por su rica historia y gastronomía, presentará un programa mejorado este año para conmemorar su 25º aniversario.

Al celebrar su 25º aniversario, el Festival Internacional de Cine de Jeonju adopta el tema «Más allá del marco». Este lema captura el compromiso del festival de traspasar límites y explorar nuevas vías. El festival, que organiza diversos programas, lugares y eventos, fomenta una red entre cineastas independientes y la industria cinematográfica local. También mantiene su espíritu único de exploración e innovación.

Del 1 al 10 de mayo, el Festival Internacional de Cine de Jeonju comienza con «All the Long Nights» (2024) de Miyake Sho y concluye con «Matt and Mara» (2024) de Kazik Radwanski. Durante el festival se proyectarán un total de 232 películas, entre ellas 162 largometrajes y 70 cortometrajes, todos elegidos mediante procesos competitivos. Esta selección cuenta con 10 películas cada una en la competencia internacional, la competencia coreana y una categoría especial para películas sin barreras.

Lo más destacado de este año es una exposición especial titulada «Ver de nuevo: 25+50 (See Again: 25+50)», organizada conjuntamente con el Archivo de Cine Coreano, que celebra su 50º aniversario. La exposición muestra los primeros trabajos de renombrados directores coreanos como Ryu Seung Wan, Bong Joon Ho, Jeong Ji Woo y Hong Sang Soo, junto con las últimas restauraciones digitales de películas coreanas clásicas, incluida «The Widow» (1955). de la directora pionera de Corea Park Nam Ok, y «Mist» (1967) de Kim Su Yong.

Para conmemorar el décimo aniversario de la exposición emblemática del festival, «‘100 Films 100 Posters‘», se presentará una muestra especial de Pixar creada conjuntamente con Disney.

En los principales lugares turísticos de Jeonju se llevarán a cabo varios eventos auxiliares interesantes, como exhibiciones de archivos cinematográficos.
